3/15 Acrylic Turtle Neck Sweater

I knit 2 Turtle Neck sweaters out of the 3/15 Acrylic using 1 strand and tension 8 on my knitting machine. The Rust Turtle Neck Sweater Hip Length has set in sleeves and the neck was ribbed at tension 7. The Turquoise Turtle Neck Sweater had a few changes the turtle neck was knit longer in order to pull up and cover the head. Also the turtle neck was knitted at a looser tension 9 making it closer to a cowl neck.

The yarns are beautiful Marls 3 ply 15 weight means 3 strands of different colors are twisted together to make the 3 ply 15's.

The yarn knits up in a beautiful all around heather or tweed look, it does not leave a funky pattern as it knits. The yarn is soft and machine Washable and Dry able.

I am knitting a scooped neck vest in the Rust 3/15 it has turned out very nice.I will publish the pattern in our newsletter. Stephanie's Mail-order Yarn Newsletter this fall.

I believe socks would look great knitted in this yarn. Also I am planning on knitting a cardigan, a sleeveless turtle neck sweater, an afghan, possibly a skirt. A jacket or coat would turn out nice in this yarn.

It knits nice on the garter carriage if you have one at tension 8 using one strand. I knit the vest tension 8 using 1 strand and the stitch gauge was 7 stitches and 9.5 rows per inch.

The pictures are the 3/15's knitted in stockinette and garter stitch. The color cards do not show up very good on line, like the green is not green on the monitor on one of the cards.

Knit out of 100 percent USA Cotton a 6.2 weight of Stephanies Studio and Yarn Purple cotton. Knit with the garter carriage tension 7. Cast-on 80 Stitches knit 150 rows. Wash and dry (cotton shrinks some). The first on is knit using Stitch World pattern 493. Before washing and drying size was 13 1/2 inches long by 14 1/12 wide. after washing and drying 12 3/4 inches by 10 1/4 inches.

Pattern 492 (two pictures) Stitch World cast on 80 stitches knit 150 rows tension 7. Not washed and dry the measurements are 14 inches long and 12 1/4 inches wide. Row of knit and purl withna diamond row. Cotton 6.2 Purple from Stephanies Studio and Yarn.

Diagonal boxes stitch world 544 dishcloth in 6.2 purple cotton before washing and drying measurements were 13 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches wide.After washing and drying measurements were 12 3/4 inches long by 10 1/4 inches wide. Cast on is 80 stitches knit 150 rows. Tension 7 but it could be knitted looser like tension 8 or 9. Purple cotton yarn is Stephanies Studio and Yarn.

Yarns come on about 4 lb cones and runs $8.98 a lb. thats $0.56 an ounce.
Great gift for the red hat ladies. I also thought of knitting 1 strand of the 6.2 cotton and 1 strand of 16.2 cotton in a red and purple combination. Other colors available are light pink, light blue, yellow, mint green, white, lavendar, red, purple. 100 percent cotton.

Tam Machine Knitted Acrylic

YARN: 2 STRANDS 2/17 Bright Cranberry Team Yarn

TENSION 10

Cast on 38 stitches. Carriage on right. Knit 2 rows.

Set carriage to hold. Opposite side of carriage pull out 2 needles in hold, knit 2 rows.

Continue down all the 38 needles till 2 are left.

Release Hold button.

Knit 2 rows across all the needles. Carriage on right.

Repeat 11

more times a total of 12 panels.

Take off on scrap (waste) yarn.

Right side facing (knit side) Put stitches back up on the 38 needles.

Place the other side up on the same needles.

Knit sides together or (right sides are inside the now the wrong side of the second half is facing you making 2 stitches on each needle.

Knit across 1 row. Bind off.

Cast on for Band in 1x1 rib 134 st.

Rib at Tension 8 for 30 rows.

Hem.

Put up 1/2 of the tam on these needles.

Pull out to hold the remaining needles.

Carriage on hold.

Knit 1 row across.

Bind off.

Repeat for the other 1/2 of the tam

For a wider hat cast on a few more stitches.
