Infant Socks Pattern for Machine Knitting


Yarn: 2/17 Hi Bulk Acrylic

Sizes: Newborn, 3 months, 3-6 months.

Cast-on 32, 36, 40 stitches in 1x1 rib.

Rib 10 rows tension 4.

Tension 5 Stockinette Stitch. Knit 5, 10 rows.

Short Row Heel:

Set machine to hold position.

Opposite side of carriage put into hold position 1/2 of the stitches (16, 18, 20 stitches).

Put into Hold 2 stitches opposite side for short row and 1 hold stitch.

Knit across one row, wrap yarn under needle and over top the hold needles to prevent hole.

Opposite side of the carriage pull out 2 needles knit across, wrap. Do this till only 5,6, 6 needles remain in center.

You decreased, now you are ready to increase stitches back.

Opposite side of carriage push back to knit position 2 stitches knit across, repeat till all heel stitches are in work position.

Take machine off hold position and knit across all 32, 36,40 stitches.

Knit 16, 20, 24 rows.

Shape toe:

Same as heel.

Knit 1 row across all needles to knit in any loops that remain.

Take off 16, 18, 20 stitches on knitting needles or waste yarn so stitches are divided into half.

Join toe and top together either seam or kitchner stitch.
